For those that are new to swing tonight the evening starts with an included 1h Lindy Hop class for beginners. It’s a taster class were we will in a fun and easy way will give you some moves to later use on the social dance.

You are very welcome regardless of age, membership, dance ability, with or without a partner and if you are a student or not.

We mostly dance Lindy Hop but you can often find someone dancing Balboa and Collegiate Shag.

We’re counting on lots more dancers this semester and are thus going back to lower fees. At least for those that sign up in advance

Tonight we’re back on the huge hard wood floor in Gasquesalen at Kårhuset and open 18.00 with a special Lindy Hop theme class for all level on how to have more fun when social dancing. The social starts 19.15.

Blues dance weekend in Malmö

Join us for a blues dance weekend with the amazing Philippa Svensson and Vivien Nivesse.

In this workshop, we’ll explore Blues dancing in a variety of styles and tempos. For Beginners, we will use the Blues Boxstep for a versatile basic in close and open position, with turns and leans. We will spice things up for the more advanced level by incorporating elements of Slow Drag, with fancy moves and technique. Both levels will incorporate an hour of solo dancing, to build up Blues dancing vocabulary and explore integrated body movement.

Getting ready for your Lindy Hop weekend

A page with practical information for those that have just signed up for a beginners Lindy Hop weekend

Practical information for those who have just signed up for a beginner’s Lindy Hop weekend course. Most of the information is also applicable to those who take a course spread over several evenings and workshops on higher levels.

This is general information that applies to all weekends and all venues. More specific information will be sent out a few days before your specific workshop.

Good to know

  • CLOTHES. Attire is usually a mixture of training and everyday clothes. At social dances, people sometimes wear retro or vintage styles. Comfortable and loose-fitting or stretchy is good, and most people avoid tight jeans for example. an extra shirt/clothes can also help you stay fresh throughout the day.
  • SHOES. Bring your most comfortable indoor shoes. There are no requirements, but most people bring some version of sneakers/trainers/tennis shoes to classes. A slightly (or much) smoother sole can help you slide more while dancing. NO black-soled outdoor sneakers that leave black marks on the floor. Those who dance often will usually dance in a mix of sneakers, leather soled shoes, or suede soled shoes at social dances. 
  • WATER. A water bottle and an extra T-shirt or clothes are also good to have to keep you hydrated and fresh throughout class.
  • LUNCH. Feel free to bring a lunch box and eat together. However, we usually do not have access to a kitchen, cutlery, etc. Lunch breaks are one (1) hour.
  • VALUABLES. Always bring all valuables into the course room.

SwingShoes End-Of-Round Celebration featuring Björn Ingelstam Quintet

We are excited to announce that SwingShoes End of Round 5 celebration will feature Björn Ingelstam Quintet!

We are very fortunate to welcome Björn, his group of musicians to play some infamous tunes during the evening for our listening and dancing pleasure.

The evening kicks off with a special surprise taster class (theme and teacher Tba), followed by social dancing and live music when best!

Social dance season finales

Join us for the last Monday Night Swing at Kårhuset December 5th before we move to Smålands Nation the 12th and season finale the 19th. The last one is free for all that sign-up in advance!

Cats’ Corners last Wednesday Night Hop is on the 14th.

All Mondays and Wednesdays from December 5th include a beginners Lindy Hop hour to send your friends to.

04/12 Sunday Tea Dance (FFS)

On Sunday, December 4th, Fast Feet is once again collaborating with Cat’s Corner to bring you an extra special tea dance on this “even” week. Join us in Kirseberg for a slightly faster evening, perfect for all us Balboa, Shag, and fast lindy lovers. We’ll have dancing and fika for you all afternoon.

Suggested price:
30 SEK entrance
20 for fika
Pay as you like. We ask that you help cover the cost of renting the venue/fika, and have given a suggested price. You can pay more or less as you like.
