About our Balboa courses and levels

Our instructors are highly experienced and travel the world to dance and take classes in Balboa. Previously, we only offered sporadic courses locally, but following successful Beginners/Fundamentals weekends and a high demand for more classes, we have expanded our program.

We added Continued 2 to welcome both recent graduates from our basics courses and experienced dancers returning to the floor. When this level also received high registration numbers, we added Continued 3.

Here is a guide to our levels:

Balboa Beginners’/Fundamentals Weekend, Saturday & Sunday
Our foundation course. This weekend is for absolute beginners, but it is also excellent for those who want to review and really polish their fundamental technique.
Balboa Fundamentals just Sunday
Do you want to refresh your basics without starting from scratch? We offer the option to book only the Sunday of the Beginners weekend. Perfect for those who want a review but feel comfortable skipping the absolute basics taught on Saturday.
Balboa continued 1
The first step after the fundamentals weekend. Here we start building on your base, introducing more figures and variations.
Balboa continued 2
A level where we welcome both those who have completed our previous steps and dancers who have learned Balboa in the past and want to join in.
Balboa continued 3
Currently our highest level. For those who have completed Continued 2 (or equivalent) and want to continue challenging their dancing.

About the curriculum and the future
The exact definition of what each “Continued” level entails is currently a work in progress. For now, we are simply building progressively from one level to the next, ensuring that our current students always have a natural next step to look forward to.

The plan is to continue with more courses this autumn. We hope to involve more of our amazing local Balboa dancers to teach and help structure the courses.

You can of course dance the Balboa on a lot of more Lindy Hop ish events but below we try to list only the more dedicated Balboa events. Events that at least have a Balboa taster class and/or a dedicated Balboa dance floor.
