Save the Date: THE BLUES 2027 (April 3-4)

Get ready for an immersive blues dance weekend in Malmö! We usually aim for the last weekend of March every year—however, since that aligns with Easter in 2027, we are moving the magic to the first weekend of April instead. Make sure to block your calendar!

Expect high-level technical coaching, soulful movement, and, of course, the infamous parties that Malmö is known for. Whether you’re here for your first steps or to master the deep nuances of the dance, this weekend is for you.

  • 📍 Confirmed Venues: Classes will be held upstairs in the beautiful Festsalen at Ungdomens Hus, and Saturday night’s Big Blues Bash will take place at Barnens Scen inside Folkets Park!
  • 🎵 Lineup & Schedule: Instructors, bands, and final schedules are not confirmed yet. We are working hard to bring you incredible teachers tailored for all experience levels.
  • 💰 Pricing: We aim to keep pricing close to last year’s rates, including our youth/student specials and volunteer options.

What to expect

  • The Classes: We plan to return with our popular two-track daytime system (Beginners/Fundamentals to Intermediate & Intermediate to Advanced) at Ungdomens Hus. An 8-hour “Ambitious Option” will be available for those who want to join both tracks. However, we might also rearrange and/or expand the tracks for this edition!
  • Parties & Socials: All full course passes will include entry to the parties. Saturday night will feature our main event at Barnens Scen with its gorgeous circular wooden dance floor. We are also aiming for a cozy Sunday afternoon social and looking into a gritty Friday night “Speakeasy” venue to kick off early.

What is Blues Dancing?

Blues dancing is not just one single dance; it is a soulful family of vernacular dances with deep roots in African American culture and history. Unlike dances that rely on rigid patterns, Blues is built on connection, improvisation, and a raw conversation with the music.

It is a dance of contrasts: it can be grounded and powerful, or soft and intimate. It ranges from the rhythmic energy of a “Juke Joint” style to the elegant, flowing movement of “Blues Ballroom.” At its heart, Blues is about feeling the groove rather than just memorizing steps. It’s expressive, rhythmic, and incredibly addictive.

La Belle Parade live på Far i Hatten

La Belle Parade är ett all-female Jazzband som spelar svängig jazzmusik från 1920-talets New Orleans, lyxigt paketerad i glittrande flapper-klänningar och med musikaliska inslag från klassiska Old Hollywood filmer. Då två av bandets medlemmar hör till några av världens bästa Charleston-dansare, överraskar de ofta med ett par fartfyllda dansnummer under en konsert.

La Belle Parade kan konststycket att med humor och värme, förvandla vilken lokal som helst till en medryckande tidsresa tillbaka till Jazzeran och det Glada 20-talet. Bandet spelar för en alltid lika hänförd publik på allt från mysiga trädgårdsfester och skärgårdskrogar till danskvällar, jazzfestivaler och stora företagsevent på scener som Nalen, Münchenbryggeriet, Malmö LIVE och Blå Hallen.

HepTown and Visit Lund invites you to two Saturday nights of blues dancing in the heart of Lund! Blues is the “party dance” of our community – a soulful and expressive dance that perfectly complements Lindy Hop.

During these three evenings, we will focus mostly on the rhythmic and high-energy “Juke Joint” style. Each session is designed so that both beginners and experienced dancers learn something new and gain fresh perspectives on their dancing.

In honour of the IDAHOT day on May 17th (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia), tonight’s Wednesday Night Hop has a queer theme to celebrate queer history and the dancers in our community who break the gender norm.

Learn to dance Lindy Hop in a weekend – Summer Edition in Stadsparken Lund

Join us for a summery dance weekend during Sommarlund! We’ll be taking over the dance floor in Stadsparken for two days filled with swing, rhythm, and new friends.

🌍 ROOTS OF THE DANCE
Lindy Hop is a Black American vernacular street dance that developed in Harlem, New York, in the 1920s-1940s. Today, it’s a global phenomenon. We promise a workout worth a fitness centre combined with more fun than you’ve had for weeks!

🌟 NO PARTNER? NO PROBLEM!
You can join alone, as a couple, or with friends. We rotate partners in class so everyone gets to dance with everyone. It’s a great way to meet people and learn the social logic of the dance from the start.

🎓 ACCESSIBLE TO ALL – SPECIAL DISCOUNT FOR STUDENTS & YOUTH
We want to make it as easy as possible for the next generation of dancers to join the community. That’s why we’ve made this course extra accessible by offering a significant discount (40%) for students and youth up to 26 years old.

Sommaren när den är som bäst – dansa med oss i parken!

Onsdagen den 8 juli bjuder HepTown och Visit Lund in till en riktig sommarklassiker. Semestertiderna är här och Stadsparken sjuder av liv! Vi ses på vår dansbana med tälttak för en timmes prova-på i Lindy Hop, följt av härlig socialdans i kvällssolen. Oavsett om du är kvar i stan eller på besök är detta den perfekta onsdagskvällen!

Den 22 juli växlar vi upp i Stadsparken. Sommaren går fort och det är faktiskt bara tre tillfällen kvar för säsongen (inklusive denna!). Nu ser vi till att maxa de sista julikvällarna tillsammans.

Till alla våra vana dansare: Nu är det det perfekta tillfället att bjuda med de där vännerna som ännu inte upptäckt swingdansen. Packa en extra stor picknickkorg, ta med en filt och bjud in dem till en härlig kväll i gräset. Vi tar hand om dem på prova-på-kursen kl. 18:30 medan ni njuter av sällskapet och atmosfären!

To our experienced dancers: this is the perfect time to bring those friends who haven’t discovered Lindy Hop yet. Pack a big picnic, grab a blanket, and invite them to a wonderful evening on the grass. We’ll welcome them at the taster class at 18:30 while you enjoy the park atmosphere!

HepTown and Visit Lund invite you to Swing in the Park every Wednesday from June 17th to August 5th, 2026!

As usual, we’ll have a taster class in Lindy Hop – a high-energy and fun swing dance – followed by social dancing to great swing music under the open sky.
