Once again SwingShoes and Culture House Islands Brygge repeats the success and invite new as well as experienced dancers to join Swing Dancing at Bryggen Harbour!

An introduction to Lindy Hop will be done by the skilled teachers of SwingShoes before the outdoor dance floor will open up for more social dancing!

It is free to join the introduction and the social dancefloor is open to all dance-loving people.

Vad är Lindy hop?
Lindy hop är en pardans som föddes i Harlem, New York under 1920- och 1930-talet på hemmafester och gator. I Sverige fick swingdansen sin stora återupplivning under 80-talet och sedan dess har vi hämtat inspiration från legender som Norma Miller, Frankie Manning och Al Minns. Idag dansas lindy hop världen över till svängig swing- och jazzmusik. Det är en energifylld och rolig dans med rörelser som kan vara både tokiga och sensuella. Ett fantastiskt sätt att träffa nya människor på, och en dans som passar såväl gammal som ung.

Reddie & Abel is a quartet based in Copenhagen. The band originated from a love of the raw and simple blues of the American South.

PROVA-PÅ LINDY HOP 18.30-19.30

Kvällarna inleds med en kort prova på kurs i swingdansen Lindy Hop, a.k.a Jitterbugg, en Afroamerikansk pardans från 30-talets Harlem, vilken stilmässigt har mer gemensamt med dagens street-dance än annan pardans.

Kursen riktar sig till vuxna men tonåringar som vågar är välkomna att delta.

SWING KIDS/TEENS 17.30-18.20

Upplägg kommer att anpassas för åldersgrupperna och varieras från gång till gång. För de yngre bli det t.ex. mer fokus på att ha kul och leka med olika charleston- och jazzsteg till swingmusik för att mot slutet smyga in partneraspekten av dansen. För tonåringarna blir det mer likt kurser för vuxna men med högre undervisnings tempo då erfarenheten är att de lär sig mycket snabbare.
Det är för nybörjare varje gång med då innehåll varieras kan det fortfarande vara kul att gå flera gånger.
Swing Kids/Teens hålls på svenska men vi kan vid behov göra dem tvåspråkiga och inkludera engelska.

Vi kommer dock inte att hålla stenhårt på indelning, det handlar mer om vem kursen riktar sig till. En 14-åring kan m.a.o. hänga med udda veckor och stötta sina yngre syskon och en dansvan 12-åring har nog roligare på kursen för de något äldre…

DJ PROHIBITION, ALIAS ERIK ASK-UPMARK…

…spelar dansmusik från 20-, 30- och 40-talen (swing, hot jazz, Charleston, foxtrot m.m) på sina två trattgrammofoner ett dansant och noga kurerat urval hämtat från sitt bibliotek om ca 5000 stenkakor inom alla (dåtida) genrer.

BEGINNERS LINDY HOP DROP-IN CLASS 18:30-19:20

The evening starts with a short taster class in Lindy Hop aka jitterbug , an African American couple swing dance from the ’30s Harlem, NY. This class is targeted at adults BUT teens that are OK taking classes with adults are also welcome to join.
Just come and join us, no partner and no registration needed.
This class is taught in English as there is always lots of tourists joining

This course is aimed at adults, but teenagers who dare are welcome to participate.

SWING KIDS/TEENS DROP-IN CLASS 17:30-18:20

We’ll try different approaches to swing dancing as kids all learn differently. e.g. Having fun while playing with charleston and Jazz steps and kinda sneaking in the partner aspect of the dance at the end. Swing Kids/Teens classes are held in Swedish but we can if needed make em bilingual and include English.

Kvällarna inleds med en kort prova på kurs i swingdansen Lindy Hop, a.k.a Jitterbugg, en Afroamerikansk pardans från 30-talets Harlem, vilken stilmässigt har mer gemensamt med dagens street-dance än annan pardans.
Kursen riktar sig till vuxna men tonåringar som vågar är välkomna att delta.

SWING KIDS/TEENS 17.30-18.20

Upplägg kommer att anpassas för åldersgrupperna och varieras från gång till gång. För de yngre bli det t.ex. mer fokus på att ha kul och leka med olika charleston- och jazzsteg till swingmusik för att mot slutet smyga in partneraspekten av dansen. För tonåringarna blir det mer likt kurser för vuxna men med högre undervisnings tempo då erfarenheten är att de lär sig mycket snabbare.
Det är för nybörjare varje gång med då innehåll varieras kan det fortfarande vara kul att gå flera gånger.
Swing Kids/Teens hålls på svenska men vi kan vid behov göra dem tvåspråkiga och inkludera engelska.

The evening starts with a short taster class in Lindy Hop aka jitterbug , an African American couple swing dance from the ’30s Harlem, NY. This class is targeted at adults BUT teens that are OK taking classes with adults are also welcome to join.
Just come and join us, no partner and no registration needed.
This class is taught in English as there is always lots of tourists joining
This course is aimed at adults, but teenagers who dare are welcome to participate.

We’ll try different approaches to swing dancing as kids all learn differently. e.g. Having fun while playing with charleston and Jazz steps and kinda sneaking in the partner aspect of the dance at the end. Swing Kids/Teens classes are held in Swedish but we can if needed make em bilingual and include English.

  • Odd weeks for 8-13 years

MORE THAN DANCING

This is also a good time to have a picnic or barbecue, play some games or just lounging in the sun.

På en dansbana på Tegnérsplatsen i Lundagård i centrala Lund bjuder massor av dansorganisationer upp till dans. Det blir gratis prova-på och uppvisningar i allt från magdans till Lindy Hop från kl 12 till midnatt med 20 av Lunds mer än 50 olika dansorganisationer.

Season finale, Wednesday Night Hop 8/6 + Beginners Blues Dance Class

Welcome to Cats’ Corners swingin’ Wednesday Night Hop at Moriska Paviljongen.
