In addition there are lots of weekly swing dance events in the Öresund region that in some cases are harder to find information about. On our weekly swing dances page we try to gather them all in one place

Beginner’s Lindy Hop weekend in Helsingborg 23-24/9

Our introductory course is for those who have no knowledge of Lindy Hop, or took a couple of courses a long time ago and need to brush up the basics again.

Do you like to dance or would you like to know how? Does “gangster swing” and “updated retro coolness” sound interesting? Then HepTown’s beginners Lindy Hop weekend workshop in Helsingborg is the thing for you!

Our introductory course is for those who have no knowledge of Lindy Hop, or took a couple of courses a long time ago and need to brush up the basics again.

You will learn different basic steps, the most common figures and basic leading/following techniques. The aim of the introductory course is to enable you to dance with the rest of us during social dance nights.

The workshop is a two-day introduction to this cool thing called Swing. We promise a workout worth a fitness centre combined with more fun than you’ve had for weeks. But be warned – it’s addictive…

When: Saturday & Sunday from 11.00 to 16.00
Requirements: NONE (bring flat indoor shoes and some lunch – that’s all)
Price: SEK 620-850 (see below for details)
A discount of SEK 200 is offered those who register and pay at least 3 weeks in advance .
Youth, 24 years and below and students receive an additional discount of SEK 80 if they register and pay in advance.
Youth discount is applied automatically for 24 years and below. To get Student discount for 25 years and above use booking code STUDENT. Discounts are not shown until you get your payment information.

HepCat Hangout: Mods vs Rockers

This Saturday the hardcore Mods and Rockers will meet up in Malmö for the annual Mods vs Rockers Malmö ride out to HepCat Store.

Any Saturday is a god Saturday to hang out at HepCat Store. This Saturday the hardcore Mods and Rockers will meet up in Malmö for the annual Mods vs Rockers Malmö ride out to HepCat Store.

The rest of us will hang out here for the Hot Dog BBQ and count em in.

No need to bring your own. We’ll provide the meat, the heat and the chef to “burn” and serve em from lunchtime until about 3 pm.

HepCat Store will be open from 10. The Mods and Rockers are expected to invade around 1 – 2 p.m.

The Revival is about bringing back a time when people went out social dancing and enjoyed the company of others with the same appreciation in music.

We invite everyone to come enjoy our ideas about music and dancing. The classes focus on the original Balboa, Bal-Swing, in addition to other Jazz era social dances. The evening parties all feature live music.

Once again the Copenhagen swing dance associations – Swing Shoes, Ministry of Balboa, Hepcats Copenhagen – are teaming up with Kulturhavn in presenting a swingin’, jivin’, hoppin’ summer Swing Ball on the banks of the Copenhagen Harbour. There will be live music from a 7 piece swingin’ band and the chance to give those summer legs a twirl.

a workshop with two of the finest lindy hoppers from the East, Alina and Fedor.

Saturday the 12th and Sunday the 13th of August SwingShoes will arrange a workshop with two of the finest lindy hoppers from the East, Alina and Fedor.

Saturday

will focus on solo dance and end with a two-hour lesson, how to implement solo moves in your lindy hop. There will be 6 hours of solo classes: 2 hours of solo jazz with focus on African roots, 2 hours of jazz work for trained dancers and 2 hours of bebop. The classes can be taken separate, or you can try if you have the stamina for a hole day of intensive dancing.

Sunday

5 hours lindy work shop for intermediate level dancers.
Sunday the Work Shop will be held at Vesterbro Kulturanstalten.

Danslärare från Heptown bjuder på en prova-på i lindyhop

Lär dig salsa, tango, bugg, swing och mycket mer i sommar i Folkets Park! Under sex torsdagar i sommar dansar vi loss i Folkets Park. Kom och ta några dansteg till en stil du kanske aldrig tidigare prövat på. Varje tillfälle börjar med workshop med erfarna lärare inom sin genre och sedan avslutas kvällen med liveband så du kan testa dina nya ”moves”. Denna kväll är det swing för hela slanten!

Swing About är ett Malmöbaserat swingband och har bland annat varit återkommande husband på HepTowns måndagsdanser på Mejeriet i Lund. Swing About svänger dig tillbaka ända till 30-talet och inbjuder till fest och klackarna i taket.

Kvällarna är anpassade för alla åldersgrupper och dansen är till för dig som en nyfiken på en ny stil eller för dig som vill utveckla dig. Du som inte vill dansa utan bara vill njuta av härlig musik är självklart också välkommen!

Arrangemanget är ett samarbete med Swing Station och Swing Street.

Lyssna på live jazz till tonerna av The Swing Street Orchestra, spela krocket i slottsträdgården och klå vännerna i Retro Quiz. Packa med picknickfilten, brädspel och finskor för det ges massor av möjligheter till att mysa i slottsträdgården med familj och vänner, och för den danslystna bjuder vi upp till både socialdans och prova-på-kurs i swingdansen Lindy Hop med Hep Town. Lindy hop är en energisk och glädjefylld pardans med rötter från 30-talet, och den dansas till jazz- & swingmusik. Dansen har vunnit ökande popularitet, och i Helsingborg finns en trogen skara som har regelbundna socialdanser med stor gemenskap!

The Joyful Swing Band, bestående av erkänt mycket skickliga jazzmusiker:

Mattias Carlson, saxofon/klarinett
Sven-Erik Lundeqvist piano,
Simon Peterson bas,
Andreas Baw trummor,
