Vill du dansa till svängiga Rhythm & Blues-rytmer? Då är denna kurs perfekt för dig!
Vi utforskar en dans som påminner om Boogie Woogie, men med en mjukare och mer bluesig känsla.

  • Denna Rhythm & Blues-dans är en är en pardans som liknar Boogie Woogie men då den dansas till Rhythm & Blues blir det en mjukare och mer bluesig dans.
  • Vi kommer att fokusera på att dansa till musiken med breaks, gung, groove, improvisation och fotarbete.
  • Grundsteget som kommer att läras ut är samma som det mjukare Boogie Woogie steget som även används i Slow Boogie.
  • Då det bara är 4 gånger och vi vill hinna med så mycket som möjligt riktar sig denna kurs till dig som redan dansar trippelstegs baserade danser som Lindy Hop, WCS, Jive etc.

I framtiden hoppas vi även kunna erbjuda denna kurs för de som saknar all tidigare danserfarenhet.

Jazzy Spring Weekend with Jo Hoffberg ~ MALMÖ ~ 2025

Get ready for a jazzy spring weekend with Jo Hoffberg!

We are delighted to have Jo back in Malmö this spring for two full days Lindy Hop and Solo Jazz workshops. There will also be a Saturday night party!

The weekend will feature a mix of Lindy Hop and solo work as both of these elements are essential for us to grow as dancers. We highly encourage you to sign up for both!

All workshops will be open to all levels. Jo is very good at this – there will truly be something for everyone (yes, even top dancers will be challenged). However. we do recommend that you have taken at least a semester or two of swing dance classes. (If you’ve never taken a solo jazz class in your life, that is totally fine – now is your chance!)

JO’S BIO
Jo Hoffberg is a force of nature. She is an international choreographer, a highly decorated competitor, a thoughtful mentor, a wearer of high-waist pants, and is best known for her teaching. She has taught Lindy Hop, Charleston, Vernacular Jazz, Aerials, Competition Prep, and Weekend Intensives both nationally and abroad since 2007. Her love and appreciation for various Black American art forms allows her to bring innovative versatility to the dance floor while simultaneously respecting the roots.
Her demand as an instructor, performer, and competitor has taken her to hundreds of festivals spanning 35 countries and five continents. After having spent many years prioritizing Lead & Follow, Jo now enjoys exploring improvisation, musicality, body awareness, and self-expression, which is apparent every time she steps on the dance floor (or posts videos of herself dancing in her living room). Incredibly passionate about teaching the solo side of partner dancing, Jo is super-freaking excited about helping students find their voice in this dance!
Her motto: possibilities over perfection.
She has been honored for her contributions by being inducted into the 2012 Rising Star California Swing Dance Hall of Fame, 2014 Camp Hollywood Hall of Fame, and 2022 Shining Star California Swing Dance Hall. She holds countless titles from such prominent competitions as: The American Lindy Hop Championships, European Swing Dance Championships, International Lindy Hop Championships, National Jitterbug Championships, U.S. Open Swing Dance Championships, Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown, and Lone Star Championships – to name a few. Lady Hoffberg has been interviewed for Swing Dancer Magazine, “The Track” podcast, cover of Swing Magasinet om Swingdans, and guest-starred in Yehoodi broadcast of ILHC.
As a community leader, she is shining the spotlight on the next generation by consistently competing in Pro/Ams at ILHC, mentoring the next generation of instructors, and supporting deeper structural changes in the community – check out her online dance school to see this in action!! She is continuing to invest in her personal dance education by regularly challenging herself in other genres of dance, and believes to be a good teacher you must also be a good student.

    learn a handful of different basic solo jazz moves to help build you solo jazz vocabulary. No previous experience required. (You are allowed to skip the first two lessons if you already know a lot of Solo Jazz moves)

      we will build on the basic moves and learn to dance freely and expressively, you will learn tips and tricks to experiment and play around with the moves which can be applied to solo or partner

    Philippa och Vivien möttes på dansgolvet 2011 och har dansat tillsammans sedan dess. De anser att par-dansandet utgår från individuella kroppsrörelser och musikalitet -men att en stabil teknisk grund också behövs. Med Philippas bakgrund i gymnastik och fysioterapi, och Viviens gränslösa entusiasm, så vill de dela med sig av idén att du bör lämna varje dans med ett stort, orubbligt leende på dina läppar!

    Philippa Svensson and Vivien Nivesse (Malmö)

    Philippa and Vivien met on the dance floor in 2011 and hit it off immediately. Since then, they have been teaching and competing together across Europe, as well as in their respective scenes (Oxford UK, Paris, and finally Malmö, Sweden). They believe that couple dancing finds its roots in solo body movement and musicality -but solid technique is a must. With Philippa’s background in gymnastics and physiotherapy, and Vivien’s boundless enthusiasm, they want to share the idea that any dance should leave you with a big, unshakeable grin on your face!

    Beginners weekend in Lindy Hop aka jitterbug , an African American couple swing dance from the ’30s Harlem, NY. This class is targeted at adults BUT teens that are OK taking classes with adults are also welcome to join.

    There are usually very mixed ages with participants from 16-65+. With a slight excess of 18-26 as we have a youth and student discount.

    Beginners’ Lindy Hop track for youth and students in Lund Spring 2025

    Beginners’ youth & student track in Lindy Hop, an African American couple swing dance from the ’30s Harlem, NY. You will learn enough to dance with us at our social dances, continue on any of our B-levels, and be the sought-after dancer at the next student ball.

    This particular course is only open to students and young people aged 26 or younger.

    In this course, everyone will learn both leading and following.

    NOTE! We have many other courses open to everyone, regardless of age.

    • When: 5 Mondays starting January 27th 2025
    • with a total of 7,5h of classes + >10h of social dancing included.
    • Where: Gasquesalen, Teknologkåren vid LTH, John Ericssons väg 3, Lund
    • Price: SEK 325 for all 5 evenings
    • HepCat membership is included
    • The social dance, Monday Night Swing is also included the same evenings.
