Family Swing + Family Groove with Signe Frydenlund

Join a cozy daytime event for families with small and big kids, surrounded by swing music and dancing.

This Family Swing edition will have two parts:

10.00-11.30: Family Groove danse session with Signe Frydenlund.
Signe is one of the most experienced dancers teachers in Copenhagen, especially when it comes to families and kids.
She writes the following about Family Groove:
“Family Groove is a playfull and super simple way of moving to inspiring music. This session will be adjusted to whoever is there (babies, kids, parents, grandparents) but the aim is to have fun no matter what age. The important thing is to share the joy of music across generations and that everyone feels free to move in their unique way. Some of the music will be swing music but we will also play with other genres. If you plan to join, please write the age of you kid(s) in the comments.”
Come and get ready from 10.00 with dancing from 10.30-11.30.
Price to participate in this dance session: 110kr per adult joining. This price includes participation in the open dance afterwards. Kids with adults join for free. No registration needed.

11.30-13.30: Open dance floor
After the dance session with Signe we will set up our biggest studio so that there is both an area to dance and play in, as well as an area to sit and chat in.
This will allow you to have some lovely dances and/or talks with the other parents, while you can still keep an eye on your children. The music will be played in a child-friendly volume.
You can invite your children to dance, or you can sit with them and look at others dance – depending on what you feel like.
Price: 50kr per adult, which includes free tea and coffee. Kids are free.

Some practical info:
It will be possible to park prams/strollers inside the studio. There will also be several nap-places, where your children can sleep when they need a nap in their stroller.
We will make coffee and tea which will be free. There will also be a few snacks to buy.
You are welcome to use the kitchen in our cafe to prepare food for your little ones (we have a microwave you can use to warm up the food or milk).

Monday Night Swing + Beginners Shim Sham 19/8

The second Monday Night Swing this Fall semester kicks off at 7-8 pm with a Shim Sham class for beginners. No previous experience is needed.

After the class more happy people will join in to swing-out out at our weekly social dance at Kårhuset in Lund. Music from the good old days will be hovering over the smooth dance-floor. Where would you like to be?

Let Loose 2020

We’re back for the second edition of Let Loose in Copenhagen.

We are happy to present a weekend where all students will have classes in both Lindy Hop and Authentic Jazz with some of the best teachers around.

We are aiming for:

A workshop where we will stay connected to the roots of Lindy Hop, its improvisational character and its relationship with swing jazz.

A weekend filled with good live music from some of the best swing musicians in Copenhagen as well as some great swing DJ’s.

Swing Night at Far i Hatten (Oscar Wolf,Nick Christie,Joakim Ad)

A brand new swing constellation in town: Oscar Wolf, Nick Christie and Joakim Adamsson. They met at the jam sessions around Malmö and decided to start playing some of the good old jazz standards together. Oscar is originally from Barcelona, and he’s been in the Blues scene for a while. Nick is an excellent swing guitar player from San Francisco who just started playing the upright Bass a few years ago. Joakim, (the only swede in the band) been studying the clarinet for a long time and he also plays the saxophone. More focused on 1930’s sound, the golden era of swing, bringing back some rare, not so famous songs, adding the inevitable personal touch.

18:15-20:00 social dancing comes next, try out the dance, listen to some great music and have some fika!
