– WITH BRIAN LUCKY SKILLEN
For dancers that are new to blues and want to learn the fundamentals of blues dancing and intermediate/advanced bluesdancers that want to get better at it.
11.00-16.30
Class 1 – Juke joint – is a style of blues based off of the slow
dances being done in Juke joints around America at the turn of the last century. This class will give you a firm grip on the basics of blues dancing and will go over weight shifts, pulse, fishtails and counter balance.
Class 2 – Ballrooming – Is the modern interpretation for the slow dancing done at the Savoy Ballroom in the 40’s and 50’s traditionally it was danced with many turns lifts and dips. Today it has been developed into very dynamic dance adding a new flavor of movement to the floor craft
Class 3 – Connection – This class will bring a whole new connection to you and your partner. It will go over the 3 classic types of connection and touch on a fourth. It will help you to bring together you and your partner and will bring a whole new understanding to the dance.
Class 4 – Turning technique – This class will teach you the basics of turning and give you several turning patterns to use in your dancing
SUNDAY
Class 5 Connecting Solo – This class will teach you fun and exciting solo movement to put into your partner dancing. It will also focus on blues skip ups a fundamental in blues dancing.
Class 6 – Rhythm and slides – This class will give you fun slides that will add to your blues dancing. It will teach you how to get from point A to point B with style.
Class 7 – Single axis Series – This class will go over several single axis moves that will impress the crowds and add amazing flow to your dancing.
Class 8 – Micro Blues -This is a modern style of blues that uses small movements to communicate to your partner. This class is an experience not to be missed and is the glue that holds dance together.

Do you like to dance or would you like to know how? Does “gangster swing” and “updated retro coolness” sound interesting? Then HepTown’s beginners Lindy Hop weekend workshop in Helsingborg is the thing for you!
Our introductory course is for those who have no knowledge of Lindy Hop, or took a couple of courses a long time ago and need to brush up the basics again.
You will learn different basic steps, the most common figures and basic leading/following techniques. The aim of the introductory course is to enable you to dance with the rest of us during social dance nights.
The workshop is a two-day introduction to this cool thing called Swing. We promise a workout worth a fitness centre combined with more fun than you’ve had for weeks. But be warned – it’s addictive…

Snöra på dansskorna eller bara kom förbi och avnjut kalabaliken!
Promenadorquestern och med Baletten Paletten från KTH har sedan 1956 förskräckt och förundrat den kungliga huvudstaden med dans, musik och diverse upptåg. Orquestern spelar röjig jazzmusik, och Paletten dansar autentisk jazz, Lindy Hop och Charleston, ofta i egna arrangemang och koreografier. Spelningarna karaktäriseras av hög energi och stor entusiasm.
Denna söndag hälsar de på oss på Far i Hatten. Det är fri entré och vi har mat- och dryckservering som vanligt.

We put out a long row of tables and chairs, you bring your own dinner and eat with us. Perfect if you take the B-level at Kårhuset 18.15-19.45 or just want to socialise and eat before you dance nonstop until 22.30.
As one of the classes overlap the social dance we will keep it going until 22.30 to give them the chance to social dance.

Can’t believe it’s been 20 years since we started as an underground club in a basement in Lund. This night we’re back at Mejeriet where Club HepCat was a monthly Saturday night event for many years
We have skipped the big international (expensive) acts and will not drown you in nostalgia about early HepCat years. We will instead focus on good food, amazing local live music and getting to dance and hang-out with as many old and new HepCats as possible.
** The swing DJ will keep it swingin before, between and after Nanna Carlig plays live on stage in the main hall.
Dressing up in a retro style is always appreciated but never required.
A bit of a warning might be in order as the dance floor will be very crowded, especially early in the evening, but don’t worry there is plenty of room to hang-out and socialise in the bar and from midnight an extra blues dance floor in the black box…
HepTown started as a small underground swing club with punk attitude back in 1999 when swing dancing and Lindy Hop was almost unknown around here…

Kan inte tro att det har gått 20 år sedan vi började i Stortorgets källare källare i Lund. I kväll är vi tillbaka på Mejeriet där Club HepCat hade lördagsklubb varje månad i många år.
Vi har skippat stora internationella (dyra) band och kommer inte att ägna för mycket tid åt nostalgi kring tidiga HepCat-år. Vi kommer istället att fokusera på god mat, fantastisk lokal livemusik och att dansa och umgås med så många gamla och nya HepCats som möjligt.
** Swing-DJn håller igång dansgolvet innan, mellan och efter att Nanna Carlig spelar live på scenen i stora salen.
Vi har ingen dress-code men dra gärna på kostymen/cocktail-dressen, sno farfars gamla hatt & hängslen och putsa skorna innan du beger dig till Mejeriet
Att gå på en Club HepCat-kväll är som att vandra in i en annan värld – en plats du inte trodde fortfarande existerade. Du är tillbaka i en juke-joint från 40-talet och publiken är med dig.
En liten varning eftersom dansgolvet kommer att vara mycket trångt, särskilt tidigt på kvällen, men oroa dig inte att det finns gott om utrymme att hänga och umgås i baren och från midnatt ett extra bluesgolv i stallets black box.
Med sprudlande energi och saxofonen i handen leder Nanna Carling, inspirerad av musiker och tonsättare så som Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday och Sidney Bechet sitt Swingband. Det blir het jazz och blå blues som tar en tillbaka i tiden!

On the 18th of September we kick off a 10 Wednesdays special ELEF-edition of B beginners-continued.
To take part in this course you have taken the beginners weekend as either a lead or a follow or equivalent.

To master one role in a dance you also need to understand the other and the best way to do that is to experience it for your self. In addition there will be twice as many you can dance with on the social dance floor.

Starting on the 8th of September we give you a 12 Sundays kick ass challenge divided in three parts. We begin with building speed and stamina in the fast Lindy course, get airborne in the acrobatics and finally put it all together in the original fast version of the California Routine with acrobatics.
You can sign-up for each part separately, but will probably need the first two to get the skills needed for the California Routine in fast tempo with acrobatics.
You can sign-up for the Fast Lindy without a partner but will need to get one for the acrobatics and the California Routine. The Fast Lindy course is however a good place to find one.
