Blues dancing shares many roots with lindy hop and is often danced in the lindy hop community. The goal with this blues circle is to make the beginner feel at home at a blues party or blues weekend and to give the more experienced dancer a chance to practice and learn new moves, or why not learn the role you usually don’t dance?
There will not be any experienced instructor, but someone from the circle or an invited guest will share their knowledge on a specific part of blues dancing each time. The topics will depend on who is instructing, but preliminarily they would be:
Blues moves and slides, solo and together
Inside and outside turns
Walks and ochos
Switching
Close embrace
It is totally fine to just show up and participate, but you are very welcome to help out with instructing, being instructor sidekick or DJing one of the nights. This will be coordinated by Pelle Ohlsson so let him know if you are interested!
Each night will be free standing, but you will learn the most from joining as many of them as you can. We will start with 5 nights and this may be followed up by another circle if there is interest.
You will sign up as leader or follower as you prefer, but in case the class would be very unbalanced we may do everybody-leads-everybody-follows.

Hey guys, we are super happy to see that so many people have shown an interest in learning some blues during the summer.
In this workshop we will focus on transmitting energy from lead to follow and from follow to lead, to make the dance flow and to bring joy to the dance. We will start from some classic figures and explore concepts such as: lag and energy retention in turns, movement and end-points.
This workshop is not for complete beginners and we will not go through the basics of blues dancing such as pulse, posture, frame and connection (but do expect to play with these). You donât need to be an expert blues dancer but we suggest that you have some understanding of these topics.
We also hope to have a house party somewhere on Saturday night đ

Once again SwingShoes and Culture House Islands Brygge repeats the success and invite new as well as experienced dancers to join Swing Dancing at Bryggen Harbour!
An introduction to Lindy Hop will be done by the skilled teachers of SwingShoes before the outdoor dance floor will open up for more social dancing!
It is free to join the introduction and the social dancefloor is open to all dance-loving people.

Swing with its unique energy is one of the most entertaining dances. It takes its name from the golden age of jazz music, the Swing era, which is known for musicians like Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, and Chick Webb. Its rhythm, which accelerates or slows down from time to time, has made it an extremely entertaining dance.
Swing dances can be performed both in pairs and solo. Solo Jazz, as one form of the Swing dances, is performed solo and consists of Charleston and authentic jazz steps.
Come with comfortable clothes and shoes!
