On the 28th of July there is a Lindy Hop Class for beginners and a solo jazz class for the more experienced dansers

You can’t book these evenings in advance. Just be there early to grab one of the 50 spots for each part.

IS THIS REALLY A GOOD IDEA!?

It will not be business as usual. We strive to follow and surpass guidelines and recommendations.

Lindy Hop is a couple dance but in tonight’s beginners class we will work on it solo without a partner. Have fun, get your feet moving and your body bouncing in preperation for next week when we couple up and dance with a partner.

Later we got a lovely twist solo dance routine to Sam Cook’s “Twisting The Night Away” choreographed by the amazing Sharon Davis.

Om vädret tillåter kommer vi att vara utomhus på utedansbanan och annars inomhus i Gamla Skolan. Golvet är träplankgolv och du har med fördel låga bekväma skor med sula som glider, tex skinnsula.

Vattenpump med dricksvatten och utedass finnes och efter kursen får man gärna fortsätta dansa en stund på dansbanan eller grilla medhavd grillmat efter eget tycke. Egen lunch och fika medtages.

Ynglingarum 6130 har postadress 24373 Tjörnarp men ligger strax utanför Häglinge i Hässleholms kommun. Vill man inte köra till oss kan man med fördel ta tåget till Tjörnarp och cykla 7 km på grusväg. Our introductory course is for those who have no knowledge of Lindy Hop, or took a couple of courses a long time ago and need to brush up the basics again.

You will learn different basic steps, the most common figures and basic leading/following techniques. The aim of the introductory course is to enable you to dance with the rest of us during social dance nights.

The workshop is a two-day introduction to this cool thing called Swing. We promise a workout worth a fitness centre combined with more fun than you’ve had for weeks. But be warned – it’s addictive…

Due to covid-19,

we limit the number of participants to a maximum of 36 people and skip the normally mandatory change of partners. You should of course stay at home and let us know if you have the slightest cold symptoms or the like which can be a sign of covid-19. You will then get your course fee as a credit to be used for a later course.

Lindy Hop Beginners’ Weekend Lund 11-12/9

The course is open to everyone but this particular course has bigger youth and student discounts

Due to covid-19,

we limit the number of participants to a maximum of 40 people and skip the normally mandatory change of partners. You should of course stay at home and let us know if you have the slightest cold symptoms or the like which can be a sign of covid-19. You will then get your course fee as a credit to be used for a later course.

Do you like to dance or would you like to know how? Does “gangster swing” and “updated retro coolness” sound interesting? Then HepTown’s beginners Lindy Hop weekend workshop in Lund is the thing for you!

Our introductory course is for those who have no knowledge of Lindy Hop, or took a couple of courses a long time ago and need to brush up the basics again.

You will learn different basic steps, the most common figures and basic leading/following techniques. The aim of the introductory course is to enable you to dance with the rest of us during social dance nights.

The workshop is a two-day introduction to this cool thing called Swing. We promise a workout worth a fitness centre combined with more fun than you’ve had for weeks. But be warned – it’s addictive…

Swing in the park Premiere

Yes, HepTown and Visit Lund invites you to swing in the park every Wednesday from the 16th of June to the 4th of August.

We take this opportunity to work on our solo swing dance. An important and fun part of becoming an excellent Lindy Hopper.

  • Open: 18.30 – 21.00
  • Cost: Free*
  • Easy solo dance class: Shim Sham, 18:30-19:20
  • Challenging solo danse class: Shim Sham Styling, 19:30-20:30

** For the swing DJ set you are welcome to solo dance or social dance with 1 fixed partner. No switching partners until most of us are vaccinated.

In the autumn, when we are vaccinated, we will go back to the normal state where everyone just dances with everyone.

50 PEOPLE LIMIT

To ensure that we are a maximum of 50 people inside the fences around the dance floor, SommarLund has extra staff on site to hand out 50 tags (Dansband). When you go home (or take a longer break) you leave your tag which is then disinfected. There are extra tags to be handed out while the disinfected ones are left to dry.

IS THIS REALLY A GOOD IDEA!?

It will not be business as usual. We strive to follow and surpass guidelines and recommendations.

Some examples of measurements:

  • More authentic jazz solo dance classes instead of just coupled Lindy Hop.
  • Beginners Lindy Hop without rotating partner.
  • No traditional social dance where everyone dances with everyone
  • Fenced dance area with a limit of 50 people at once

MORE THAN DANCING

This is also a good time to have picnic or barbecue while keeping good distance, play some games or just lounging in the sun.

SWING DANCE TASTER CLASS

The evenings used to always start with a short taster class in Lindy Hop aka jitterbug , an African American couple dance from the ’30s Harlem and we will still do this the evenings in July but without rotating partners. Most other evenings we will teach Tap or Authentic jazz solo dance classes instead. Authentic Jazz is a big part of the Lindy Hop scene and a really good way to get your body moving and feel the rhythm…
