Save the Date: THE BLUES 2027 (April 3-4)
Get ready for an immersive blues dance weekend in Malmö! We usually aim for the last weekend of March every year—however, since that aligns with Easter in 2027, we are moving the magic to the first weekend of April instead. Make sure to block your calendar!
Expect high-level technical coaching, soulful movement, and, of course, the infamous parties that Malmö is known for. Whether you’re here for your first steps or to master the deep nuances of the dance, this weekend is for you.

Where: Malmö, Sweden
- 📍 Confirmed Venues: Classes will be held upstairs in the beautiful Festsalen at Ungdomens Hus, and Saturday night’s Big Blues Bash will take place at Barnens Scen inside Folkets Park!
- 🎵 Lineup & Schedule: Instructors, bands, and final schedules are not confirmed yet. We are working hard to bring you incredible teachers tailored for all experience levels.
- 💰 Pricing: We aim to keep pricing close to last year’s rates, including our youth/student specials and volunteer options.

What to expect
- The Classes: We plan to return with our popular two-track daytime system (Beginners/Fundamentals to Intermediate & Intermediate to Advanced) at Ungdomens Hus. An 8-hour “Ambitious Option” will be available for those who want to join both tracks. However, we might also rearrange and/or expand the tracks for this edition!
- Parties & Socials: All full course passes will include entry to the parties. Saturday night will feature our main event at Barnens Scen with its gorgeous circular wooden dance floor. We are also aiming for a cozy Sunday afternoon social and looking into a gritty Friday night “Speakeasy” venue to kick off early.

What is Blues Dancing?
Blues dancing is not just one single dance; it is a soulful family of vernacular dances with deep roots in African American culture and history. Unlike dances that rely on rigid patterns, Blues is built on connection, improvisation, and a raw conversation with the music.
It is a dance of contrasts: it can be grounded and powerful, or soft and intimate. It ranges from the rhythmic energy of a “Juke Joint” style to the elegant, flowing movement of “Blues Ballroom.” At its heart, Blues is about feeling the groove rather than just memorizing steps. It’s expressive, rhythmic, and incredibly addictive.
