Wednesday Night Hop & Beginners’ Lindy Hop 5/9

Welcome to Cats’ Corners swingin’ Wednesdays’ at Moriska Paviljongen. The evening kicks off with a beginners’ Lindy Hop class at 8 pm and continues with a swinging social dance in Morsikans grand ballroom at 7.45 pm.

The night kicks off at 7-8 pm with a Lindy Hop class for beginners. No previous experience is needed.

### NOTE! This swing night 3/9 is at Smålands Nation.

Do you like to dance or would you like to know how? Does ”gangster swing” and ”updated retro coolness” sound interesting? Then HepTown’s beginners Lindy Hop weekend workshop in Malmö is the thing for you!

Our introductory course is for those who have no knowledge of Lindy Hop, or took a couple of courses a long time ago and need to brush up the basics again.

You will learn different basic steps, the most common figures and basic leading/following techniques. The aim of the introductory course is to enable you to dance with the rest of us during social dance nights.

The workshop is a two-day introduction to this cool thing called Swing. We promise a workout worth a fitness centre combined with more fun than you’ve had for weeks. But be warned – it’s addictive…

Denna grundläggande kurs är till för dig som inte har några som helst kunskaper i Lindy Hop, eller som gått någon enstaka kurs för länge sedan och behöver putsa upp grunderna igen.

Du kommer att lära dig olika grundsteg, de vanligaste turerna och grundläggande förar- och följarteknik. Målet med nybörjarkursen är att du ska kunna dansa socialt med oss andra på danskvällarna.

## Behöver man en danspartner?
Till våra kurser kommer deltagare ensamma, i par eller med ett gäng vänner. Om du anmäler dig i ett par (förare + följare) är ni garanterade plats så länge kursen inte är fulltecknad. Som ensam följare kommer du med så fort det anmält sig tillräckligt många ensamma förare. Vi uppmanar därför alla att anmäla sig så tidigt som möjligt.

På kursen roterar alla med jämna mellanrum och byter danspartner vilket såklart även gäller de som anmält sig i par. Detta då vår erfarenhet är att man lär sig mycket bättre då

Lindy Hop and Shag registration for the fall will open as follows

Registrants for the highest 2 (E and F) that want to take a higher level than they have done before will need to do a small audition (no big scary pear audition) on Wednesday the 5th of September at Moriskan in Malmö, 18.15-19.45. If you sign-up for the same level you will not need to do the audition.

Half of the semester on E-F in Malmö and D i Lund will be replaced by theme classes of various length. Some of theme classes are now on-line. A few more and descriptions of them all to be on-line later…

Most spring courses have already started but there are still som theme classes, a beginners weekend and a summer course to sign-up for this spring.  In the middle of this we open the registration for fall courses…

– Du går på (Amb.) Intermediate eller (Amb.) Intermediate Advanced og vil gerne rykke op.
– Du har aldrig danset i SwingShoes før og vil gerne placeres på et af vores hold.
– Du har holdt pause fra SwingShoes undervisning i mere end to runder (4 måneder).
– Du føler dig langt over niveau på dit hold og vil gerne springe et hold over. Du har selvfølgelig snakket med din underviser inden, og denne er enig.

Følgende er ikke grund til at komme til audition:
– Du vil gerne have personlig feedback uden at betale for det.

Hvordan foregår det?
Det er meget stille og roligt. Der er fire undervisere – to followere og to leads. Du danser to danse med to forskellige undervisere, mens de to andre kigger på. Efterfølgende vurderer underviserne dig, du får en kort feedback og en vurdering af hvilket hold, du passer bedst på.

Så må du komme til vores næste audition. Desværre.

Remember to check the sheet and your time a few days before the audition. Make sure to be there on time! If you’re really smart, you’ll be there a bit before to get to warm up in Haraldsalen on third floor (only after 12).

Should I go to audition?
There are four reasons to join the audition:
– You are currently on (Amb.) Intermediate or (Amb.) Intermediate Advanced and would like to join classes on a higher level.
– You have danced, but never taken classes in SwingShoes before and would like to be placed on one of our levels.
– You have taken a break from classes in SwingShoes for more than two rounds (4 months).
– You feel, that you are far superior compared to your classmates, and so you would like the opportunity to skip a level. Of course, you have already discussed this matter with your teacher who agrees.

Please note that this is NOT a reason to come to the audition:
– You would like to get some personal feedback on your dance, without having to pay for it.

How does it work?
It’s very laid back. There’ll be four teachers – two follows and two leads. You’ll dance two dances with two different teaches, while the other two looks. Afterwards, the teachers will evaluate your dancing and give you their judgement of, what level you are fit for.

What if I can’t make it that day?
Then you have to wait until our next audition, unfortunately.

Welcome to Cats’ Corners swingin’ Wednesday Night Hop at Moriska Paviljongen. The evening includes a beginners’ Jam circle class at 8 pm. At the same time the swingin social dance in Morsikans grand ballroom starts at 7.45 pm!

Everyone is welcome to join a Jam circle regardless of level and it’s not a showcase but rather a social dance event.

JAM CIRCLE

The term originated during the swing era of dancing, probably borrowed or appeared in parallel with the expression ”jam session” in music. In Lindy hop, it is common for jam circles to take place on or around special occasions such as birthdays or weddings. In these cases, the person(s) being celebrated will usually stay in the circle for the duration of the jam and, rather than dance one song with one partner, will dance one song but swap partners many times throughout.

Welcome to Cats’ Corners swingin’ Wednesday Night Hop Light at Spegelsalen. Unfortunately Moriskans grand ballroom is not available but instead, the social dance will be held in Spegelsalen together with coffee and cookies a.k.a. fika which is included in the door fee. On this little extra summer course we continue with polishing the basics set during the beginners’ weekend to keep you from forgetting it all before the full semester of beginners-continued start in September

NOTE! This course picks up where the beginners weekend ended. Thus you really need to take the beginners weekend or similar before taking this course.

Hepcats’ Sunday Swing

Hepcats Copenhagen proudly presents Hepcats’ Sunday Swing – the Copenhagen swing community’s social dancing Sunday hang-out.

THIS WEEK WE START WITH A FREE INTRO TO SWING DANCING AT 15.00 (no need to sign up, just come as you are!)!

The DJ will be in their place, and the dancers will be moving their feet like there’s no tomorrow. You don’t need to bring a partner, all you need is the will to swing! Everyone is welcome! Come as you are:)

The staff at Kulturhuset Indre By are in their full right to ask you to move to the changing rooms. Please respect the rules and respect the floors so that we can keep them perfect for dancing longer.

MIX ’N’ MATCH (formerly known as Jack and Jill)

Mix ’n’ Match is a format of competition in partner dancing, where the competing couples are the result of random matching of leaders and followers. Rules of matching vary. M&M is popular at Swing conventions, as well as at ballroom dance competitions.
