Swingnyheter: Sista utomhusdansen, höstsäsongen, showgrupp mm

Kom och njut av årets sista utomhusdans – en svängig picknick och socialdans på Dansön i Nobelparken i Lund. På onsdag drar Cats’ Corner igång sin socialdans, Wednesday Night Hop, som denna och nästa vecka bjuder på prova-på för nybörjare kl. 19-20.

Den 25 maj och 8 september gästar Monday Night Swing Smålands nation. Mat serveras från kl. 18, följt av prova-på för nybörjare kl. 19-20. Därefter blir det socialdans till kl. 22 och efterhäng till kl. 23. Inträdet är nästan gratis för den som förbokar, och mat och dryck säljs till studentpriser för alla (oavsett om du är student eller inte).

Den 1 september bjuder vi, tillsammans med Vita Huset på Djingis Khan, på en gratis Monday Night Swing med socialdans och prova-på för nybörjare. OBS! Antalet platser är begränsat, och gratis inträde gäller endast för föranmälda.

The main dance on Wednesdays’ is Lindy Hop, a swing dance originating in the 30-40s in Harlem, NY. This wednesday there will be a taster for beginners from 19:00 in Spegelsalen, and the social dancing will start as usually at 20:00 in Stora Salen. There will be a drop-in shag class (for beginners) followed by social dancing in Spegelsalen .
The Collegiate Shag (or ”Shag”) is a partner dance done primarily to uptempo swing and pre-swing jazz music (185-250+ beats per minute). It belongs to the swing family of American vernacular dances that arose in the 1920s and 30s. It is believed that the dance originated within the African American community[1] of the Carolinas in the 1920s,[2][3] later spreading across the United States during the 1930s. Beginners’ Lindy Hop track for youth and students in Lund Fall 2025

Beginners’ youth & student track in Lindy Hop, an African American couple swing dance from the ’30s Harlem, NY. You will learn enough to dance with us at our social dances, continue on any of our B-levels, and be the sought-after dancer at the next student ball.

This particular course is only open to students and young people aged 26 or younger.

In this course, everyone will learn both leading and following.

NOTE! We have many other courses open to everyone, regardless of age.

When: 4 Mondays starting September 15th 2025
with a total of 8h of classes + >8h social dancing included.

Lindy Hop helgkurs för nybörjare i Lund 27-28/9

Nybörjarhelg i swingdansen Lindy Hop, a.k.a Jitterbugg, en Afroamerikansk pardans från 30-talets Harlem, vilken stilmässigt har mer gemensamt med dagens street-dance än annan pardans.

Kursen riktar sig till vuxna men tonåringar som vågar är välkomna att delta.

Det brukar vara mycket blandade åldrar med deltagare från 16-65+. Med en liten övervikt på 18-26 då vi har en ungdoms- och studentrabatt

This evening is free and open to everyone!

Bring a blanket, your dancing shoes, and something tasty to eat. While the dance floor itself can’t be reserved, it’s usually free for use.

We’ll see you from 6 p.m., but please feel free to come earlier (or drop in later).

Håkan brings a small speaker and a playlist, but it’s free for others to help out and decide on the music and take over the DJing for a while.

If you want to dance before Håkan gets there, the big white box is a Bluetooth speaker. There’s also a megaphone that you can put your phone in, which amplifies the sound unexpectedly well…

Lindy Hop is an African American street swing jazz dance. It evolved from many other dances in the late 1920s and early 1930s in Harlem, New York.
It is a partner dance usually done to swing jazz music and it is one of the most improvisational, funn and expressive partner dances around.

SUMMER DANCE: Dans på Stranden, Lindy Hop med prova-på för nybörjare 29/6

Welcome to Cats’ Corners swing on the beach, Sundays June 29th to August 10th. As always there is a beginners’ Lindy Hop class at 6:30 pm and a swinging social dance at 7:30-9:30 pm.

10 Torsdagar 18.15-19.45 19/9 – 4/12 (uppehåll v. 41 och v. 47) med en timmes efterföljande öppen träning för möjlighet att fortsätta stretcha eller jobba vidare med nya moves från lektionen. Observera att insläpp sker 18.00-18.15, sedan stängs dörren.

Hur?

All träning sker med samma partner så anmäl dig tillsammans med en träningskompis. Glöm inte bekväma kläder, dansskor om du vill träna på golvet på den öppna träningen efter kurs (inga skor är tillåtna på den mjuka mattan under kurs), vattenflaska och egna snacks vid behov. Deltagande sker på egen risk, vi tar hand om oss själva och varandra och vi hjälper varandra under träning för att skapa en så säker och skadefri miljö som möjligt. Vi kommer att anpassa nivån efter behov, och går igenom grunderna på ett tryggt och roligt sätt, där teknik och samarbete är viktigare än styrka. Obligatorisk uppvärmning och stretching ingår.

Vem?

LinaMaria Bengtsson och Mattias Bruzelius undervisar i svängig och rolig partner-dansakrobatik med fokus på Lindy Hop Aerials sk Airsteps, t.ex. lyft, kast eller hopp tillsammans med en partner. Kurserna för vuxna (över 15 år) riktar sig både till redan inbitna swingdansare och andra dansare som vill utöka repertoaren med tricks att implementera i sin egen dans, samt den som helt enkelt
ha en rolig och fysiskt utmanande träningsform i ett avslappnat och välkomnande sammanhang. Du behöver inte vara dansare ännu, då vi vid dessa kurstillfällen fokuserar på akrobatiken.

Swingcirkus

Kurserna är en del av projekt Swingcirkus med stöd av Lunds Kommun, Kultur Lund och i samarbete med Stenkrossen, HepTown och Swing Station

Swingkids 10-14 år| Swingcirkus på Stenkrossen HÖST 2025

Rörelseglädje till härlig musik! Vi lär ut grunderna i swingdansen Lindy Hop, Solojazz och Charleston, lite koreografi samt enklare akrobatiska moment, sk. Airsteps. Anmälan krävs och vi ser gärna att man anmäler sig med en kompis!
