Mitt i högsommaren och bland böljande åkrar, kvällen den 22 juli, blir det medryckande och glädjefylld jazz med Josefin Björk Werner och The Joyful Swing Band på vackra Magasinet i Billinge!

☼ Lead, Follow, and Dance at the Same Time – Part I (120 min) ☼
We see many dancers alternate between leading/following and fully dancing. We will explore mental and physical techniques to maintain leading and following while dancing expressively. As dancers, we will focus on techniques for balancing individual voice and maintaining cohesion with our partner.

☼ Social Dancer As Artist (60 min) ☼
Sometimes dance classes focus solely on improving technique. We love good technique, but we also feel that it’s important to focus on developing ourselves as improvisational artists, even if our audience is just our partner and ourselves during those few minutes. This class will focus on making artistic choices, expressing yourself in different ways, and being influenced by your partner to make different artistic choices. Develop your own voice as an artist. Art more. Art better. Art, art, art!

On the social floor, do you find yourself grasping for what to do when dancing with someone who has a different amount of experience from you? We will explore how to bring your best dancing to your partnerships at all levels, from beginner combined with masters, and everywhere in between. In addition to concrete techniques, we’ll explore mentalities and how to have an enjoyable, musical dance with anyone.

Course registration for beginners weekends and beginners continued in Malmö, Lund and Helsingborg is open. Registration for all other levels will open on Tuesday the 8th of August from 8:00 p.m.
There will be a total of 6 levels, beginners to advanced, where the highest 3 (D-F) in Malmö will be divided by peer-audition on Wednesday the 6th of September.

Our introductory course is for those who have no knowledge of Lindy Hop, or took a couple of courses a long time ago and need to brush up the basics again.
You will learn different basic steps, the most common figures and basic leading/following techniques. The aim of the introductory course is to enable you to dance with the rest of us during social dance nights.

The workshop is a two-day introduction to this cool thing called Swing. We promise a workout worth a fitness centre combined with more fun than you’ve had for weeks. But be warned – it’s addictive…
