Unofficial swingin’ picknick & social dance in Nobelparken 1/6

The spring semester at KĂ„rhuset is over, but we’re not done dancing yet! We’re extending the season with a spontaneous swingin’ picnic and social dance at Dansön in Nobelparken.

This evening is free and open to everyone! Bring a blanket, your dancing shoes, and something tasty to eat. While the dance floor itself can’t be reserved, it’s usually free for use.

We’ll see you from 6 p.m., but please feel free to come earlier (or drop in later). HĂ„kan brings a small speaker and a playlist, but it’s free for others to help out and decide on the music and take over the DJing for a while. If you want to dance before HĂ„kan gets there, the big white box is a Bluetooth speaker. There’s also a megaphone that you can put your phone in, which amplifies the sound unexpectedly well…

We continue until everyone’s tired 🙂

We’ll be there from 6 p.m. and dance until we’re tired. This evening is free and open to everyone!

It’s time to wrap up a fantastic season at KĂ„rhuset! We’re celebrating the grand season finale with extra dance time, great vibes, and summer feelings.

This evening we are opening the doors early at 18:00 to enjoy the evening sun together outside KĂ„rhuset before moving indoors for the final Monday Night Swing of the term.

A Night of Live Music — For Lovers of Close, Connected Partner Dance 💙

Are you a Blues dancer craving dancing to live music?

Are you a partner dancer who loves close embrace, slow dancing, musicality, and partner dance where connection matters more than steps?

💃 Come experience the magic of deeply connected dancing to live music. Jake Green is a Copenhagen-based Blues musician with a powerful voice and soulful guitar playing, and he has years of experience playing especially for partner dancers.

✹ There’s something truly special about dancing to a live musician — a dialogue between everyone in the room emerges as the music responds and invites you into connection in a way recorded music simply can’t. It’s one of those experiences that reminds you why you fell in love with partner dancing in the first place.

🎧 In between live sets DJ Saratonin will play some bluesy inspired fusion sets to keep us in the gooey dancing zone. After the concert we will have an hour of fusion social dancing.

What is Blues Dancing?

Blues dancing is a partner dance rooted in African American Blues culture, danced to Blues music. It’s grounded, intimate, and improvisational, with a strong focus on connection, musicality, and listening—to the music and to each other. Rather than fixed steps, blues dancing invites you to move naturally, expressively, and in close conversation with your partner and the live sound.

Do I need to know how to dance Blues to attend this event?

No. We’ll begin the evening with a Blues taster class, giving everyone simple tools and a shared language to feel comfortable on the social floor. While Blues dancers will feel right at home at this event, dancers from all backgrounds are warmly welcome.

You don’t need Blues technique to dance to this kind of music. Compared to other partner dances, Blues does not have a strict structure that you need to know to be able to dance it. It is a dance that comes from people connecting late at night in bars, and you can feel this.

If you love close embrace, slow dancing, musicality, and partner dance where connection matters more than steps, this evening is for you.

Do I Need a Partner to Attend this Event?

Nope. In the taster class we will rotate partners frequently and you’re invited to dance with everyone on the social dance floor.

About Jake Green:

Singer and guitarist Jake Green out of Copenhagen, Denmark, is a hard-working bluesman. With a powerful voice and expressive guitar, he tours constantly around Denmark. He has also graced many stages around the world, including Texas, New York, London, Sweden, Norway, Thailand and Spain.

Usually he’s the band leader and frontman of Jake Green Band, a blues rock power trio who released their third album “Seven Years After” in December 2019, following their studio album “Plugging in” from 2015. His solo album “Rough Spring” was released in May, 2019 and contains 12 original songs.

Alone he plays his own original compositions and select covers with both power and soul. In 2017 he was awarded the prestigious “Danish Blues Name of the Year” award.

Fusion is not a style of music or dance; it is when you take the dance skills you already have and combine them with partners from other styles, outside of the usual rule systems.
