Copenhagen Jazzhouse, the Friends of Copenhagen Jazzhouse and Swingin' Hepcats are proud to present Six City Stompers featuring Jørgen Svare and Esben Just.
A great night of swing, jazz, New Orleans with a touch of something completely different, when Swing Pigalle invites you to an evening of this special combo.
Six City Stompers are young and talented musicians with an amazingly high level breathing some fresh air into the traditional jazz scene.
The band mostly plays vocal jazz, with the young and talented crooner and saxophone player Mads Mathias in front, but they also play beautiful instrumental tunes. A part of their repertoire is American golden evergreens, but they also play their own songs.
In the summer of 2006 Six City Stompers won the audience's first prize at “The European Championship of Traditional Jazz” in Paris, earning twice as many points as the rest of the contestants combined.
Six City Stompers was formed in 2004, and has since then toured most of Europe.This evening Six City Stompers work together with the jazz musicians Jørgen Svare and Esben Just.
The clarinette player Jørgen Svare was a co-founder of Papa Bue’s New Orleans Jazz Band in 1956 and has since 1985 played with his own bands. Apart from "Stolle & Svare Jazz Quintet" Jørgen Svare often performs with different bands in Denmark and abroad as well as playing with his own trio and quartet.
The piano player Esben Just who is probably most wellknown for his role as front man of the trio "Skipper/Just/Frost" knows New Orleans inside out. Armed with a piano, charm and a great singing voice he creates a true Mardi Gras universe. A reviewer has written this about him: ... he plays piano like he has been chewing down redbeans and rice all of his life ... and that is a good as it gets!

On this full night of live music and night clubbing, you will meet a magical, dangerous and swinging universe. Behind heavy red drapes flirtatious feather dressed women and sneaky SwimCats will welcome you, bienvenue, bon jour, the time is ripe, are you?!
